New horizons, new characters, and new books
Also, PRINTED EDGES for The Executioners Three!
Latest News
Sorry to be a bit absent the last two weeks. I’ve had a million different doctor’s appointments for different things, and so far, the assorted scans and bloodwork have come back 👍, and I’m feeling super hopeful it will all end up 👍 once I knock out the last scans and blood tests next week.
I would always prefer doctors take something TOO seriously, than the other way around.
That in combination with the holiday and two looming deadlines I have, means I’ve just not had the spare time or bandwidth for emails.
But here I am now! And with some fun updates to boot. 😘
Readalong Update
As we close out our readalong of The Whispering Night, don’t forget to ask questions! We’ve had some pretty awesome discussions on the Discord about the book on the #ask-sooz-anything channel, where I’m just answering things as they come in!
So join us on the Discord, if you desire, or feel free to leave a comment here with anything you want to know!
Printed Edges for TE3
Some of you may have seen the video I made for Instagram to reveal some snazzy printed edges for The Executioners Three.
These edges will be on ALL hardcovers in the US and Canada (!), so you can buy from your favorite vendor and know you’ll get the edges.
What’s Next for 2025
Now, onto the exciting future ahead of us, dear readers!
As you know, I have two books coming out next year—which in and of itself is a lot. But they’re also releasing a mere 2.5 months apart…
The Executioners Three releases August 26, 2025.
Witchlight releases November 4, 20225
This means that in the coming year, you can expect teasers and promo for TE3…as well, as a LOT more Witchlands content.
Now that we’re headed toward that finale, I really want to get everyone as hype as possible. So get ready for sneak peeks, cover reveals, and other fun goodies/extras in the near future!
(We are also planning a Winter Witchlands bonanza for social media over on the Discord, so if you’re interested in maybe joining for that, do come chat with us on the #dennerds-promo channel. We have no specifics yet, but soon!)
And What’s Beyond
I’m also working on heaps of new projects—some of which I discussed in this newsletter audio post on proposals. But one that I’m especially excited for is a YA follow up to TE3 called Two For Joy.
Like TE3, it’s very romance-forward with a teen sleuth, murder, and supernatural elements set in the 90s…
Here’s a moodboard I made to include in my proposal, so you can pick up on the sticky summer, pine-forest, riverside vibes!
SoWish me luck as I wrap up the proposal for that! The 2/3rds written are fully edited, and I have a detailed synopsis written…
But I still haven’t quite figured out my book’s ending. 🤔 And alas, ‘tis a task that will have to wait until the new year, after these final Witchlight and TE3 deadlines are behind me!
There are also a million other projects on my hard drive that I’m itching to give attention to. The Alchemist and the Nightsong, an adult fantasy I shared the prologue to here. An adult detective mystery with fantasy elements. My long-, long-time WIP Screechers, which I shared on my other newsletter, along with my edits. A Something Strange & Deadly reboot/revise. And…beyond.
I’m excited to have the mental space in 2025 to work on things as I want to work on them, rather than because I have to.
Don’t get me wrong: being under contract for so long was a privilege I did not take lightly! Having that security was beyond valuable. But the weight of the last Witchlands book…
Well, so many difficulties in my own life got wrapped up into that series! Not to mention, the story was/is so complex. Finding the story solutions (I talk about this a lot here and here) just broke me.
There were so many times I truly despaired that I’d never find the Right Story and do it all justice.
But I did it! It took time, and I’m so grateful for your patience, dear readers, while I carefully assembled the finale. Now it’s done, and I know it’s the best ending it can possibly be.
And now I also have some mental space freed up to finally be creative in whatever ways I want to be. The sky is the limit for 2025 Sooz!
I probably won’t send out another newsletter before the new year—just because I have these appointments and deadlines and holidays.
So thank you.
For being here, for reading my books, for supporting me in 2024, for continuing to support me (I hope!) in 2025 and beyond. I wouldn’t write books if I didn’t know someone would pick them up to read them—the writing is entirely about the act of sharing for me.
Thank you for being a part of that sharing. And I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and happy new year!
