On not finishing in time
And why Witchlight is moving back another 6 months...
FIRST, before I get to the meat of this post: Now that the Witchlands is on KU, I’m trying to increase my follower numbers on Amazon. It’s just helpful for reaching new people in the Kindle Unlimited ecosystem.
So if you’re an Amazon shopper, please consider giving me a follow!
Now onto the important bits.
As you can see from the title, I didn’t get Witchlight finished on time. I was so close to getting the book turned in for that April release date…
But I was also holding a book that just wasn’t the quality I wanted it to be.
The first 75% of Witchlight is fantastic. Not to toot my own horn, but I think it’s really strong, really epic, and hits ALL the payoffs readers have earned over the previous five books.
But that final 25%…
I just didn’t think it was there yet. And I didn’t feel good about ending this six-book arc—our Threadsisters’ core story!—on an “it was fine!” note when I knew it could be an “IT WAS SO EPIC ASDFALKSDJFALSDKJF” note.
So I asked for a more time to edit and polish that final 25% and get it to the standard I think you all deserve.
I’m sorry. I know you all have been waiting so long for this book, and I feel like I’ve fully maxed out your patience by now.
Please know that I have never worked as hard or as long as I did this year to try to get Witchlight to you all. But…I just know in my gut, that last act can be better.
I want you all to close the book and think, Holy crap, Sooz. Oh my god. I feel so happy and so full and so 🤯 right now. I want more books in this world, please!
And I am going to get this book to that point. Period.
Thanks to the AWESOME people at Tor, the book is only delayed six months. It is now coming out in November 2025.
Trust me when I say this was not the easiest rescheduling for them to do because it means I’ll have 2 books coming out within 3 months of each other (The Executioners Three is set for August 2025!). So I’m really, really grateful they were able to make this timeline work.
(The original thought was it would have to be delayed all the way into 2026!)
So again: HUGE thank you to my incredible team at Tor. They’re rockstars.
And huge thanks to all of you for waiting. I realize some of you have already given up on the wait, and that’s fine. I understand. But to everyone who has stuck around, I swear to you that I will make it worth that wait. Emotional payoffs and plot-twist payoffs and planted-secrets payoffs…
It will all be there.
Funnily I actually had a different post planned for today. I just finished editing (and writing an ending for!) The Executioners Three. It’s both a lot like what was on Wattpad…but also very different.
And GOSH, it has been fun to work on such a fall vibes book when the autumn winds are just starting to blow up here in my corner of the Midwest.
But that post will come next week instead. 😘 Now that I know the new release date and publication schedule for Witchlight, I want to share right away.
All the love to you, dear readers! And thanks again for being here.
💚 - Sooz
The amount of time I will wait for a Witchlands book is actually infinite because I KNOW that it’s going to feed us so well once if drops 🙂↕️✨ seriously SERIOUSLY, every Witchlands installment has been a feast, and I simultaneously can’t but absolutely can wait for the next 🥹💜
Take your time and make the art that you're happy with!
