Now, finally, onto some fun stuff: I finished and turned in The Executioners Three to my editor! It is thoroughly edited, improved, and has an ending (unlike the Wattpad version, lol).
Since TE3 is by far my most romance-focused story to date, I’ve got romance tropes on the brain. 😍 What are your favorites?
I really love the “enemies who can’t keep their hands off each other” trope that sits at the heart of TE3…
That's the beauty of such a long series--I can hit SO many tropes with them. From the BIG ONES (like enemies to allies) to the little ones (oh no! Only one room!).
Agree that I adore all of the tropes that Iseult and Aeduan fit in to, the initial tension was delicious! I also love the vibes of Jay and Winnie, I'm a total sucker for childhood best friends to strangers to lovers.
Anything that can be described as "idiots in love:" mutual pining, having no limit to what you'd do for the other but in a Totally Platonic Way Obviously, simply not recognizing one's own feelings until you're slapped in the face by them through a Big Emotional Beat (jealousy, fear for the other's life, etc.), taking any excuse to make physical contact with the other but, again, Totally Platonically Why Are You Asking...
Slow burn, one horse, whatever the “oh no I accidentally splashed water on the guy I like” trope is, idiots in love, secretly in love with each other/sexual tension (Safi and Merik), forced proximity, banter, grumpy/sunshine
I will always always love friends to lovers! My favorite kind of pairing is overthinker/no thinker, I eat it up every time!!! Also, gimme all the pining ALL THE PINING, especially if it’s both sides and they don’t know the other is pining just as hard \(‘0’)/
For me, it’s the secret crush trope where, in actual fact, both really like each other. Usually one (or both) are in other relationships that aren’t good for them. They couple either finally get together or they are left wondering what could have been…
Don't normally focus on tropes, but while replaying Mass Effect with male Shep and Miranda, it hit me that feeling is what (at least I think!) people mean when talking about their favorite tropes. Two highly skilled people who push each other to be better, trust the other person is capable to handle themselves, and when have different missions, "don't tell me to be careful, I know what you're about to go do."
I'm always a sucker for fake dating haha. I love a good second-chance romance too, but especially if they were just friends hiding feelings, separated, and rediscover each other later (Yikes I feel like that's such an unpopular opinion). A close third choice to these would be arranged marriage in *certain circumstances* and done really, really well, like in A Winter's Promise or Strange and Stubborn Endurance.
My favorite trope is everything Iseult and Aeduan are. Just the whole thing. The epitome, the peak of romance and relationships and love. 🥺🩷

Fake dating, lol! I love that trope, especially when it’s done with humor. So excited for TE3!!!
YESSSSS. Oh gosh yeah. I need to find a way to use that one in a future book FOR SURE....
Knowing you, you’d set a new bar for the trope!!

Obviously I love that too. It's almost second chance, but not quite...And just RIFE with tension.

UM YES. Yes!! Give this to me ALL the way.

I love the forced proximity trope!

There's something about Grumpy/Sunshine that I really love.

My favorites are both longterm friends to lovers AND well done enemies to lovers, I like to have my cake and eat it too XD
i’m not sure what it’s called, but i go absolutely insane for the princess and her knight trope. enemies to lovers is a close second ❤️🔥
